Recording mobile money and cash at checkout

How clear payment-method records help a Tanzanian shop review daily sales.

Record how the customer paid

A point-of-sale record is more useful when each transaction uses the appropriate payment method. ZiadaPOS includes cash, M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, bank, and credit payment methods in its POS data model.

Separate the record from settlement

Selecting a payment method records the sale type; it does not by itself prove that a mobile-money payment was automatically collected, reconciled, or settled. Follow your normal confirmation and reconciliation process.

Review the day consistently

At close, compare recorded sales with your cash count and mobile-money statements. Consistent staff routines help explain differences and make reports more useful.

Set up with your actual workflow

During onboarding, confirm the payment options available in your business and how staff should confirm payment before completing a sale.
